Christmas gift guide - Lush cosmetics

Hi everyone!
Now that I live in Milan, I found out that we have two Lush shops here, so today I went there for a little bit of christmas shopping.
I've been a Lush client for a while now, and I can say that I'm really satisfied with the quality of the products cause I've always had good experiences.
Moreover, as you probably already know, Lush is a company that fights against animal testing and it's products are handmade and done with natural ingredients.
This winter Lush has an amazing quantity of awesome gift boxes that goes from 10 to 160€.
During my visit I asked a little about the new products (for example on the Limited edition products) and about the product inside the boxes.

So, I decided to share with you my personal list composed by 4 limited edition products, 3 fave gift boxes plus my favorite Lush product above all.

Ora che vivo a Milano, ho con piacere scoperto che qui ci sono ben due negozi Lush, così oggi sono andata a fare un giro.
Essendo una cliente Lush da un paio di anni ormai ( solo che prima ordinavo online o aspettavo di andare a Londra) sono consapevole della qualità dei prodotti perché ho sempre avuto buone esperienze. Inoltre è una compagnia totalmente contro il test sugli animali e i prodotti sono realizzati a mano e fatti con ingredienti naturali.

Quest' inverno Lush propone una varietà infinita di splendidi pacchetti regalo che vanno dai 10 ai 160 €.
Durante la visita in negozio mi sono aggiornata sugli ultimi prodotti (ad esempio le Limited edition natalizie) e le varietà di combinazioni di prodotti contenuti nelle scatole regalo.
Ho deciso quindi di elencarvi la mia lista di prodotti preferiti composta da 4 prodotti dal gruppo Limited edition, le 3 scatole regalo che mi sono piaciute di più ed il mio prodotto Lush preferito tra tutti.

I already used this product a bunch of times (I bought it last week) and I have to admit that I loved it since the first time I used it. I had some troubles in the past with lips scrubs so I was a little worried to try it 'cause my skin is so sensitive and delicate.
But its consistence and its coca cola + cherry flavor are irresistible.
By the way is important to follow the instructions on the product packaging and apply a lip balm after the treatment otherwise your lips will result a little bit too dry.

Ho già usato questo prodotto un paio di volte (l'ho comprato la settimana scorsa) e devo ammettere che l'ho amato sin dalla prima volta che l'ho usato. In passato ho avuto problemi con gli scrub per labbra quindi pensare di provare questo prodotto mi ha un po' preoccupata.
Ma come potevo resistere al gusto Coca cola + ciliega?

Comunque, è importante seguire le istruzioni fornite ed applicare un balsamo labbra una volta terminato il trattamento perché diversamente avvertirete una sensazione di secchezza.

Questa in particolare è un sapone / gel da doccia.
Inoltre l'odore è così dolce ed invernale.. è un prodotto fresco che potrete usare tutti i giorni senza paura di consumarlo per un massimo di un anno e qualche mese.
Potrete anche metterlo in frigo ed utilizzarlo una volta caldo!

Aqua Marina is absolutely my fave Lush's item.
I have such a sensitive skin, and I struggle to find something that I can apply everyday in order to protect my skin during cold winters. 
I started using Aqua Marina few month ago and for now I found it an awesome product. 
I'm using it to defeat the redness and to relax my skin after a chaotic day.
Can be used everyday.

Aqua Marina è in assoluto il mio prodotto Lush preferito.
Ho un pelle molto sensibile e per me è sempre stato molto difficile trovare un prodotto per il viso che posso utilizzare ogni giorno per proteggere la mia pelle dal freddo invernale.
Ho iniziato ad usare questa maschera qualche mese fa e per ora posso dire che è un ottimo prodotto.
La sto usando per sconfiggere gli arrossamenti della pelle e rilassarla dopo una giornata caotica.
Può essere usata ogni giorno.

Cold weather is for hot drinks! - Milk and cinnamon

Hi everyone!
Autumn and Winter are my favorite seasons above all!
Because of that, I love to have fun and try new things during my day!
Recently I was feeling creative and I experimented this recipe.
I found out that milk with cinnamon and a little bit of coffee are completely delicious together and perfect to relax.
Also this is an easy and quick receipt to do and this means that for me is perfect cause I have always a lot of stuff to do.

L'Autunno e l'Inverno sono le mie stagioni preferite!
Per questo motivo, amo divertirmi sperimentando cose nuove durante le mie giornate!
Recentemente mi sono sentita più creativa del solito, ed ho provato questa ricetta.
Ho scoperto che latte, cannella ed un po' di caffè insieme sono buonissimi e ciò che ne risulta è perfetto per rilassarsi.
Tra l'altro questa ricetta è veloce e semplicissima il che significa che per me è perfetta, dato che sono sempre indaffarata.

What you'll need (for one person):

A cup of cold milk
Una tazza di latte freddo 

Cinnamon sticks OR cinnamon powder
Bastoncini di cannella o polvere di cannella

Instant coffee
Caffe solubile

( Better decaffeinated if you'll drink everything before going to bed)
(Meglio decaffeinato se decidete di bere il tutto prima di andare a letto)

*If you want: Sugar or honey
*Se volete: Zucchero o miele

What you'll have to do:

- Measure the quantity of milk that you want using your favorite cup
-Misurate la quantità di latte che vi serve con la vostra tazza preferita

- Pour the milk in a pot (medium heat)
-Versate il latte in un pentolino (fiamma media)

- Add three cinnamon stick or as many powder as you like to the milk
-Aggiungete tre bastoncini di cannella o tanta cannella in polvere quanto desiderate

- Add two or three tea spoons of instant coffee
-Aggiungete due o tre cucchiaini di caffè istantaneo

- Boil everything

-Bollite il latte

-After that you can gently pour the mixing back in your cup and enjoy it!

-Dopo questo passaggio potete, prestando attenzione, riversare il mix ottenuto nella vostra tazza e godervelo!

It tastes delicious also with plane biscuits :)

Hair History + Hair care

Hi everyone!
I noticed that some of you are interested in my hair color and care.
So I decided to write a new post about that issue, in order to help you showing some tricks that I learned day after day.
I'll answer to some questions you sent me on Tumblr and Youtube.

#1. Are you a real redhead?

Actually yes and no.
I'm not exactly the kind of redhead you would expect! My natural color is a honey/reddish blond, that is the result of the mix between my mother's and my dad's hair (blond and reddish light brown).
I turned out like that cause I look more like my dad rather than my mum.
I'm anyway lucky cause my hair base is a light one so I never needed to use bleach on my hair.

#2. How many hair colors have you changed? 

In reality few of them.
The fact is that I dyed my hair the first time at fourteen in a kind of deep bloody red and I just changed the shade of red during the years! From this kind of bordeaux I gradually became more and more pink, till the day in which i decided to dye my hair in cyclamen.
As a last touch after few months I added a little bit of violet in my ends.

Obviously this type of hair was so difficult to maintain in a good shape that for more then a year I had to spend a lot of time in taking care of it.

I felt in love with that color but sadly I had to change it cause I needed more time to study and stuff like that. 

So, finally I went redhead.

At first I wanted a lighter color that I decided to change in a deeper one few months later, and now I still have my hair in this color, a kind of deep natural red.

#3. Are your hair ruined?

No, my hair are in a perfect shape cause I always took care of them and I've always used hair dye with natural/vegan ingredient such as manic panic ones. 

Most important thing: I've never bleached my hair.

#4. What kind of products did you use for your hair care? And what products do you use now?

I've always used a lot of hair masks and special hair conditioner for dyed hair in order to maintain the color glossy, vibrant and deep.

I've always used a shampoo from Diego dalla Palma that you can find for example in beauty shops that keep Diego dalla Palma stuff.

This shampoo in my case is for straight hair and is called "LISCIOSPAGHETTO". 

I suggest you Diego dalla Palma stuff anyways, cause it is pricy but great.

After the shampoo I usually apply of an hair mask or a colored hair conditioner.

If I dyed my hair few days before (like a week or a week and a half) I apply the mask cause the hair color is still in a good shape at that point, otherwise I apply the hair conditioner.

I usually apply the hair conditioner with wet hair and I keep it in place for 5 to 10 minutes.

When I had Cyclamen hair:

Whim color conditioner - Orange shade

After the 5-10 minutes I wash my hair again taking off the product.

As last step, I try to dry my hair a little using a towel, then I apply one or two drop of the Diego dalla Palma Elisir called "EFFETTISPECIALI" on my hair ends.

And that's it. 

I'm finally ready to use my hair dryer.

#4. Do you use the hair straightener?

Yes I do, once a week after having washed my hair to fix them in place

#5. In your opinion to maintain an hair color is expensive?

It is. 

In my case has always been cause red shades fade away so quickly and with crazy colors such as blue, pink, violet, green etc you will have the same problem.

The fact is that if you dye your hair in a brown shade or in black it won't fade away so easily and quickly. It won't fade at all. 

All the hair conditioner that you can use to maintain your hair color are expensive and is extremely important to have a good quality ones, cause the conditioner can easily change or ruin your hair color.

Also, when you dye your hair you stress them in a way, so is important to take care of it with good quality shampoos and masks. 

Also you have to protect the ends if you use heat&straightener frequently.

South Africa needs your help!

Probably a bunch of you already know that the last summer I went to South Africa with my family. The thing that you probably don't know is that my dad is a vet and he worked for free in India and South Africa in order to vaccinate dogs from rabies and save a lot of children lives. 

At least 20.000 children die each year in the whole Africa because of rabies.

During this "trip" my dad met other vets that are now our friends. Renee is a women that is trying to change something and she created a vet association that vaccinates dogs and helps people and children to have an education, that is looking for donations right now. 

That's what she wrote me one hour ago: 

"Hi Ilaria!! Hope things going well in Milan! The girls miss you and your make up! Ilaria , may I please ask you to spread the word about our project in the townships. We desperately need funds for the new town ships..see the message below that I sent your dad. I feel helpless and am desperate to ask for help. These new townships we are working in are horrific, hundreds of dogs being killed, I was crying and shouting, my heart broken. BUT I AM NOW EVEN MORE DETERMINED TO CONTINUE EDUCATION AND STERILISATION, BUT WE NEED HELP.

Davide Thank you so much for spreading the word on our project! We have taken another 3 informal settlements on from this week to work in. It is horrific. The SPCA came in and euthenased over 500 dogs this week while we were doing sterilising in the townships/settlements. I went crazy, couldnt stop them from killing the dogs in front of me. We pleased and told them they can see I am sterilising, give us time, but they wouldnt listen. I was in tears and felt absolutely helpless !Our hearts broke to see these healthy dogs being killed. It just drives me even harder to educate the people and sterilise even more and faster! Please Davide can I beg you to continue to spread the word to your friends and collueges as every € helps. For those who don't know that, townships are the black people informal settlements in South Africa. They don't have water, electricity or any kind of education because they're too poor to afford it.

Probabilmente qualcuno tra di voi sa già che la scorsa estate sono stata in Sud Africa con la mia famiglia. La cosa che però non credo che qualcuno sappia, è che mio babbo è un veterinario ed ha partecipato a svariate campagne di volontariato in India e Sud Africa, con lo scopo di vaccinare più cani possibili per la rabbia e salvare così la vita agli stessi cani ed a molte persone, specialmente ai bambini che sono i più colpiti dalla malattia.
Almeno 20.000 bambini muoiono ogni anno in tutta l'Africa a causa della rabbia.
Durante questi "viaggi" mio babbo ha conosciuto tanti altri veterinari, che sono poi diventati nostri amici.
Renee è una donna che sta cercando di fare la differenza. Lei e la sua famiglia vivono in Sud Africa e devono accettare questa realtà ogni giorno.
Così, ha creato una associazione che ha lo scopo di riunire veterinari e civili, per vaccinare più cani possibili ed educare anche i bambini che non se lo possono permettere per renderli adulti migliori e più consapevoli.
Questa associazione proprio ora ha bisogno di aiuto e donazioni.
Questo è ciò che Renee mi ha scritto un'ora fa:

Le nuove township che abbiamo trovato sono terrificanti, centinaia di cani stanno venendo uccisi, li hanno uccisi di fronte a me e stavo piangendo ed urlando, il mio cuore si è spezzato, ma non mi hanno ascoltata. MA ORA SONO ANCORA Più DETERMINATA DI PRIMA NEL CONTINUARE COL PROGETTO DI EDUCAZIONE E STERILIZZAZIONE, MA ABBIAMO BISOGNO DI AIUTO.

Davive, grazie mille per aver comunicato a tante persone del nostro progetto! Abbiamo trovato altre 3  township abusive questa settimana in cui lavorare. è spaventoso. La SPCA (Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) è arrivata ed ha praticato l'eutanasia su più di 500 cani questa settimana mentre noi li stavamo sterilizzando. Io sono impazzita, non li ho potuti fermare ed ho dovuto guardarli mentre uccidevano quei poveri animali davanti ai miei occhi. Li abbiamo pregati e gli abbiamo detto che potevano vederlo, li stavamo sterilizzando, dovevano darci tempo, ma non ci hanno ascoltati. Ho pianto, e mi sono sentita davvero impotente! I nostri cuori si sono distrutti nel vedere questi animali perfettamente sani venire uccisi. Questo però mi fa essere ancora più motivata nel continuare ad educare le persone e sterilizzare ancora di più e più velocemente!

Cruelty-free fashion and beauty

Hi everyone!
Guess this is going to be quite a long post.
When I decided to start writing a fashion/beauty blog I didn't really think that it would have been easy and that I would have gain a lot of subscribers in few days.
Now, I REALLY do understand that we are still not a super large number, but today, even if I don't have a huge audience yet, I want to talk about a VERY important issue:

Cruelty free fashion and beauty

I decided to become TOTALLY cruelty free in beauty stuff months ago and now I can proudly say that I made it. Maybe I had to stop browsing on MAC Cosmetics online store, but it's for a good cause. 
Now I want to tell you the story behind my decision, hoping you'll decide to follow me.

One year ago I was watching a TV program with my boyfriend called : "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern". Maybe you have seen this program before, because I'm aware of the fact that it's a quite famous program. 
In that episode Andrew was in Barcellona and he was at the restaurant attending his giant crab to be cooked.
At a certain point I started to cry. In the program they showed how this crab was cooked..and killed.
And I started to cry when the cook ripped the crab pincer and legs while it was still alive. 
Just like that, it was so easy to do, rip everything and throw what remained of the crab in a pot of boiling water. 
I've always known that crabs, shrimps and lobsters were cooked that way, but then, when I really saw it, in a TV program, without any regret, without any hesitation, as a mechanic job.. I realized that there was something SO wrong. 
With this awareness, I decided that I wanted to go against those principles and I decided that also, I wanted to try to become a vegetarian. But now I don't want to talk about vegetarian, vegan and stuff.
This is a choice, because we are born to eat meat, it's our nature. 
But to treat animals in horrible ways for our beauty and arrogance is another story.

This story, was just something personal to make you understand my point of view. 
I was already a WWF and a Lipu partner, but then I started some researches and I found out other amazing companies such as Greenpeace and Animal Equality. 
Then one day on Facebook I discovered the PETA organization ( At that time I already knew Peta, but I wasn't so informed on its programs and stuff).
I visited the online official site and I found out something incredibly useful: the cruelty free companies list. ( You can find it here: CLICK )

I was SO disappointed in discovering that there is an incredibly large number of massive companies testing on animals!
Then I continued to research informations on animal testing and stuff and I really realized something:

People don't want to see

That's the truth.

We don't really want to know what those animals have to tolerate EVERYDAY of their entire life just because of our vanity and arrogance. 

It's easier to being not conscious of what we are causing, what we are permitting.

I don't want to wear the sufferance of a living creature on my face, on my head or on my body.

That's so wrong, we are not even talking about medical researches on vaccines or diseases, we are talking about make up.

And I'm saying that as a fashion student.

I discovered things on D&G that I don't even want to think about now.

Few days ago, on the Animal Equality Facebook page I saw that video ( If you are easily impressionable don't watch the video, I want to share this because I WANT TO SEE, and I WANT PEOPLE TO SEE what really happens everyday. I cried during the whole video, but it was necessary to comprehend even more how important is to start saying "NO". PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch it and read the article, I want you to be strong and informed. )

I can't comprehend how people can be so cruel being conscious of what they're doing. 

How can you kill an animal so easily? You don't even need to eat and survive, you don't even have to wear animals real fur on winter because otherwise you are going to die. We don't live in caves anymore.

WE CAN CREATE  PERFECT FAKE FUR FOR OUR COATS.
